Prof. Robert Braun as new Humboldt Fellow
Prof. Robert Braun will be joining our department as a Humboldt Fellow from August 2024. He is working with the ADV on his second book, tentatively titled ‘Bogeymen’, which traces the evolution of fear in Central Europe throughout the 19th and 20th century by studying the spread of frightful figures in children's stories.

ADV (Atlas der Deutschen Volkskunde) - Atlas of German Folklore
The department holds some of the original materials from the Atlas of German Folklore, one of the largest humanities research projects of the 20th century. The department also holds archives of the Rhenish Questionnaire, photo collections and bequests.
